Goodbye 2016

As I get older time seems to go faster and faster each year. I swear it was just January not long ago. You’ve been one hell of a year and to be totally honest with myself I cannot wait to see the back of you. You’ve put me to the test so many times and made me question myself more times than I can remember. But despite all the obstacles there was also so many happy moments.
This year was also especially hard and while I choose not to dwell on the bad and focus on the positive, I can honestly say that there is nothing life puts us through that we cannot handle. I have always told myself that things need to get worse before they get better and this year that is something I constantly reminded myself of; having Joao and Emma by my side also gave me a lot of strength keep my head high and keep moving forward.

It was a year filled with firsts.
I’ve got to experience my daughters first steps, first word to now become a cheeky little diva who is totally mummy’s mini me. Being a mum is a title I carry so proudly, she’s the best part of me.

My husband is my bestest friend and I don’t thank him enough but I could not live without him. It’s been a tough year on us, but if we have made it through this there is no doubt we are forever. If you’re reading this I know you do sometimes, I love you and thank you! You are always here for me when I need you the most. It’s just me and you till we are grey and old.

I’ve also found my passion for blogging again. I have been given the opportunity to work with some amazing companies in a short space of 4 months.  I am truly thankful for each and every one of you whether this is the first post your reading or a regular reader.

From the bottom of my heart thank you.

Happy New Year.
I hope 2017 brings you everything your heart desires.

Ms Flow Subscription Box

I don’t know about you but I don’t mind adding a little bit of glam when aunt flow decides to show her ugly face.
When I was reached out to by Ms Flow I was keen to find out more about their boxes and how it worked, after all it isn’t your average subscription box!

What is Ms Flow?
Ms Flow is a premium monthly subscription box service. Each month a luxury pamper package comes with all the essentials you need to get you through your period including your choice of tampons or towels, luxury artisan treats to satisfy those cravings, as well as a beauty product to lift your mood.
We at Ms Flow understand that periods are far from pleasant… Skin breakouts, mood swings, cramps, exhaustion… the list goes on. Therefore our subscription boxes include all the elements required for a happy period.
A Personalised subscription service that aims to make your period less of a hassle with a touch of luxury when you need it most.
We aim to provide treats for the three things affected most, mind body and soul.

 My December box

Firstly let’s talk packaging, it comes in a beautiful white box with black strips on the side, the box is also very sturdy which will avoid it getting damaged in the post. (There’s nothing I hate more than damaged packaging I think it really takes away from the product!) My products came wrapped in red tissue paper. From what I have seen it changes month to month depending on time of the year. Personally I think this is a very nice touch and this month was definitely very Christmassy. Your sanitary items come in a candy style stripy bag matching the colour of your tissue paper, it also includes a red scented candle. This month’s scent was winter berries perfect to sit back and relax. It’s all very nicely put together!

When you sign up for your monthly subscription you get to pick which sanitary items you’d like to receive, you can mix and match for day and night which is great and what suits your preference! You also get a Cura-heat pad to help with cramps or sore back you may experience at this oh so glamorous time of the month. In December’s box it also had SASS Intimate Purifying Cleanser. I’ve never used a cleanser before, it helps you feel fresh without causing any irritation. I think we can all agree that’s the last thing we need.
Chocolate, The one thing that can make us feel better. My box included 3 yummy treats, a GNAW Peanut butter milk chocolate, a GNWA Rocky Road Hot Choc Shot (this was so pretty to eat!) and last a Butterscotch chocolate. If you’re like me and LOVE chocolate this alone was a massive hit!
As a little treat and pick me up, it also includes the Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask. I’m sure you’ve all heard about these. All beauty bloggers have been mentioning these over the last couple of months. Me on the other hand I just can’t get the hang of tissue masks, they end up sliding of my face. I’m determined to make it work I might just have to lock myself in the bathroom with some candles and do nothing but relax in bath! It also brings a Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Stick Balm, this makes your lips feel so smooth. I always suffer from dry lips especially at this time of the year. This now has a safe place in my handbag.
Lastly it bring a Health & Heather Organic Raspberry Tea, I discovered raspberry tea when I was pregnant with Emma. The benefits of raspberry tea are amazing especially if you suffer with cramps and irregular cycles.

I think this is a nice box and adds a bit of luxury to your time of the month. You get your money’s worth and this box is very well put together. I was very impressed!

You can subscribe to the box here

The Christmas Tag

I cannot believe it’s nearly Christmas.
I swear I blinked and a whole year flew by. I cannot believe the difference in a year from looking back at photos. My baby is no longer a baby but a very cheeky toddler.

So a little bit of an update, last week on Friday I decided to dye my beautiful ash blonde hair to this colour, I loved it at first but a week later it was washing out and became too bright for me. I’ve had it put dark again today. But I’m booked in for highlights in February, I know it’s going to take forever to get back to how it was. But change is good right?

1.      What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
Elf and Love actually!
Every year we also watch home alone, I think everyone does as they seem to hit our screens.

2.     Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Growing up in a Portuguese family, tradition is you have your meal on Christmas Eve and open presents once its 12.00am. But since we got married we decided we would open gifts on Christmas morning after breakfast. Especially now we have Emma we’ve opted to start our own traditions as a family.

3.     Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Growing up in such a big family, memories are so many. But my favourite has to be flying home to Portugal to spend Christmas with my grandparents and godparents. I’ve sadly lost my grandparents. But my godparents have such a huge impact in my life. I love them to the moon and back they are truly my second parents. I got to spend Christmas with them when I was pregnant, they flew here to spend it with us and they wanted to see me pregnant. I remember one year I was SO happy, my parents got me a bike and I came down a hill full speed no idea how to stop and I went flying. (We live in the country side) it wasn’t an easy landing. We’re planning on taking Emma next year and spending Christmas with her godmother. (Her godmother is my Godparents daughter she’s like the sister I never had!)

4.     Favourite festive food?
This is a hard one. But I think CHOCOLATE.
Terrys Chocolate Orange.
(I have more than one)
I’m a terrible diabetic.

5.     Favourite Christmas gift?
I think growing up Christmas presents were so much more exciting. I’m trying to think back to see if anything stands out. I always got what I wanted, I wasn’t spoilt my parents always gave us what we wanted but also taught us how to wait and be hard working. One thing that stands out is a doll I had a sing-a-long type. I loved her so much! Her name was “Rosie” I think I drove my aunt insane with it because she took out batteries and she no longer worked. I was so heartbroken. I’d love to find one so I could give Emma one.

6.     Favourite Christmas scent?
Yankee candle winter glow.
I still had some left from last year it’s all used up now.
I also love Jo Malone “Lime Basil & Mandarin”

7.     Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Yup, we get together with family and have a traditional Portuguese Christmas meal.
It’s a cod dish, but my mum also makes octopus because me and my dad are obsessed with it! We stay up watching crappy films on T.V and this year we will be building Emma’s Christmas presents once she’s in bed.

8. What tops your tree?
An Angel

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Probably a puppy, but we now have our Roxy.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
This has changed since I’ve become a mother. Before I would say presents. They still are great. But the best part for me is seeing the happiness on Emma’s face. Seeing her so excited and not knowing if she’s coming or going. Also spending time with my husband and getting to spoil him. He’s the one that probably deserves it more. He spends all year making sure me and Emma have EVERYTHING we could possibly need and want. Not once does he say no to us. So I love to spoil him and show just how grateful we are.
After all putting up with me and my bratty moments is a task.

Copy and paste the questions.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
4. Favourite festive food?
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
8. What tops your tree?
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

I’d love to read yours.
If you don’t have a blog feel free to do it in comments.

 Merry Christmas.
Thank you for all your support in these last few months.

Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette Review.

Christmas is fast approaching now.
Has everyone finished their shopping?
I haven’t (disappointed face)
I was so organised until I placed an order at River Island which 3 weeks later still no sign of and that was presents for three people. I went shopping earlier today with my babes (Emma) nothing like mother and daughter shopping therapy. Now just my dad left, I always struggle to buy for him.

Okay breathe…

A few weeks ago my husband surprised me with a message containing this beauty and the ABH palette. One of his friends had gone to America I joked about how the palettes are cheaper there and I would die if I got them.
Well he got me them!

Firstly this isn’t a palette I would usually buy its very different from my natural eyeshadow colours and endless palettes which to be honest all look pretty similar. I own over twenty palettes and by this stage they all start to look the same. I promise you they are all different!

Let’s talk packaging, I kept reading about how big it was, its bloody huge! Imagine two urban decay palettes side by side that’s the size of this beauty. Because of its size I don’t think it would be great for travelling, it’s pretty heavy to hold. The outside is pretty simple with silver 3D writing but it’s gorgeous.  I think it really sets the tone for Metal Matte. I loved that the names are under each shade you can also find them on the back if God forbid they rub off or something. I personally hate when eyeshadows don’t have names. I love my Morphe palettes but I think if each shade had a name it’d make it feel that little bit more especial.

The shades have been swatched without a primer.

The matte shades.
I think these are forever going to be one of my favourites, they are so creamy easy to apply blend like a dream and are a nightmare to get off. When I went for a bath straight after these photos I had to scrub to get rid of the eyeshadow and then use my Take The Day Off to remove the rest.

Win Win in my books.

I have super oily eyelids and I find that most eyeshadows just melt off after a few hours even with a primer. 8 years down the line to my makeup obsession and I’m still hunting for my Holy Grail eyeshadow primer. If you have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

The Metal Shades
These just blew me away they are SO pretty, however girls with oily lids will need a primer. The first time I used the shimmer shades after only an hour or so it started going patchy. I’ve looked on a few blogs I follow and a couple of people have had this problem. I’m going to try use a glitter primer instead of eyeshadow and see if that does the trick. Some shades are worse than others.

Can we just take a minute to lust over,
Ingite, Tinsel, Glitz and Twinkle.

(smiley face with love heart eyes)

Is this palette worth the price tag?
It retails in the UK at £50.00 and you can buy it at Debenhams here
It’s so worth the money, I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
Hell it wasn’t mine, but as an eyeshadow junkie it’s quickly become a palette I grab. I think it’s perfect if you are wanting to add a pop of colour to your looks. You can also do some very pretty neutral looks if that’s what you’re into.

Is this on your Christmas list?
I’m sure it won’t disappoint you, go ahead and buy the palette life is too short.

Clinique 3 Step + Take The Day Off Review

On one of my many shopping trips into boots over the last 6 weeks getting ready for Christmas. I was walking through the counters and looking at the countless Christmas skincare sets. I really wanted a new skin routine. If you read my confession post, you’ll remember I’m terrible at remembering to use creams etc. Recently I’ve started to notice my skin isn’t in the best shape. Especially after having a baby. It must be hormones and lack of sleep. Emma sleeps all night, but every little sound or movement I’m awake. If you’re pregnant or just had a baby, it’s true you’ll never sleep like before!
Back in 2011-2012 I used Lancôme and I swear by them, but they aren’t very budget friendly for this time of the year. I mean I’d rather spend that money on gifts for Emma and my husband. Maybe just maybe Santa will remember this shopping trip (By Santa I mean my husband! By this stage he was blowing steam from his ears, he had just given in and bought yet another Minnie.) I was looking for something new. I spoke with a few people on a makeup group I’m in and so many recommend Clinique.

£47.00 later I came out with the Clinique 3 step anti blemish solution (£25.00) and Clinique take the day off balm (£22.00).

This was what the lady at the count recommended as I still at times experience some breakouts, but I’m so disappointed I listened to her. I originally wanted to buy the 3 step introduction kit. I have oily skin and under the skin spots so I really wanted something to tackle this problem. She said what I was looking for this range was perfect as its anti-bacterial it also has powder in cleanser to stop the oiliness. After 4 days of use I started to notice my skin getting very dry in patches. I was also breaking out more. At first I thought it my skin adapting to the products but after a two weeks I gave up and packed it away. I did however pick up the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. I picked this up more because of an offer they had at the time spend £10 minimum and get 5 gifts of your pick. I’ve only been using it for a week so I’ll review it in the New Year after I’ve used it a little bit longer. I’ve also picked up some bits from the Nip & Fab+ range. As for the anti-blemish range I just didn’t love it, I really wanted to but it was making my skin worse.  I’m enjoying this new moisturizer so hoping that doesn’t change.

The balm I had heard so much about I’ve been wanting to try it but I was always worried about the fact it’s an oil. I have oily skin and didn’t want anything that would make it worse. But I took the plunge and bought it. I’m so glad I did. I had been using the Garnier Micellar Water for a few months, I still use it on my eyes. I take a little bit of this and rub it into my face using my fingers and my makeup just slides off without much effort. The first time I put this to the test I removed my eye makeup without a problem (waterproof mascara and all). It leaves your skin so soft and without that oily residue afterwards. It comes in at £22.00 which sounds a bit pricey for makeup remover but it’ll last you for so long so you definitely get your money’s worth. No more faffing with makeup removers.

Any skin care recommendations welcome…
Hope you’re all getting ready for Christmas, not long now 14 days and counting.

With Love Subscription Box

Hi lovely people,

So I have failed so badly at blogmas I don't think I will try and catch up as it's the 8th and I've managed two posts. I will however try and post more than once a week. Woke up feeling ill today so feeling rather sorry for myself currently in bed wrapped in blankets with a hot drink watching Jeremy Kyle.

When the team at with love contacted me about reviewing their monthly subscription box I jumped at the opportunity! All the items inside are made or created in the United Kingdom, they are cruelty, vegan and dairy free. You could say they are made with love.

The box includes a little treat for yourself, a beauty product, stationary and something décor.

What was in my box?

The first thing I noticed when I opened my box was the lovely smell! It was wrapped in crispy white tissue paper with a “with love” sticker. The first thing that caught my eye was three photographs. Every month they feature a brand new photographer if you happen to love the prints you can buy bigger sizes from their website. The photos really suit this month’s box, winter wonderland is what comes into mind.

I received 10 Christmas cards, each one has a beautiful wintery print. The tape by Rose & Clare is so gorgeous, teamed up with plain wrapping paper, it really makes it look like you’ve made an effort.

Chocolate is a girl’s best friend!
Hazelnut Praline bar from Zara’s Chocolates, an award winning company based in Bristol, I haven’t had a chance to eat this but I might pig out tonight as I’m feeling sorry for myself.

Lastly, this is what I was mostly excited about, I love smelly things. It’s just something about opening a parcel and getting a fresh scent and this did it for me I kept sniffing the bag and soaps. Bloomtown Botanicals are ethical plant based Skincare Company. Inside there was three little soaps
1.      The woods
2.      The rose garden
3.      The meadow

The meadow and the rose garden I can see myself buying the full size they are just so lovely they feel amazing on the skin too!

The scrub is really nice too!

I think this is a lovely box and very carefully put together.
On their website you can read about each company and has a ton of information which is a nice touch.

A one off box is £30, but you can subscribe for three months for £65, or a year for £250.

Have you tried any of the above?
What did you think?

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
I can’t believe it’s that time of the year again, where has a year gone? I bet your super busy and all. In the middle of all the craziness and last minute shopping let’s not forget the real meaning behind it all. Christmas is a time for giving and receiving and its not all about presents (shocked face). I think over the years Christmas became more about present till I got the best gift in 2015. She’s an amazing reminder what it’s all about.

What I really want for Christmas is health and happiness for my family and friends. Some friendships are as sweet as they will ever be, some have drifted and some are a new blessing but never the less I ask for happiness and health to them and their families over the next 12 months.

I’m more of a giver then a receiver I just love the look on the face of my loved ones when they open there gifts.

Presents are good some are bloody great! Please feel free to go through all my screenshots on my iPhone, you must have some magic power for that sort of stuff?  But I basically want all the makeup and beauty products out there. Please make sure Emma gets spoiled rotten she’s been on the naughty list a few times this year but I forgive her for the sleepless nights, the times she’s made me cry and question myself as a mother. I can’t wait to see her face on the 25th after her dad has probably spent Christmas Eve swearing a lot putting up her kitchen! That leads me to him, again his been on the naughty list. But think he really wants an Audi S3 and that isn’t happening on my end so Santa a new car for him with a couple grands worth of cash for all the mods. I know he has very expensive taste!
Also a weekend away for us two would be much appreciated, a lovely spa in the middle of nowhere with hardly any reception. We spend far too much time on our phones so quality time would be nice!  I say hardly any because I would like to still be able to FaceTime Emma every day okay maybe twice a day!

As every year, NYC and Bora Bora are top of my list for places to go so if you think I’ve been very good this year that’d be amazing! Also the list has slightly got a bit bigger since Emma is obsessed with Minnie we would like to take her to Florida Disneyland, I keep telling myself it’ll happen one day!

A box of chocolates in my stocking please, after all its Christmas I’ll just have a tad bit more insulin. Thank you for the past 23 years of presents, I still believe in Santa. Who else would fill my stocking?

*P.S Santa lives in our hearts, Christmas is a time for family and friends. Try not to stress too much about presents enjoy good food and prosecco!

Christmas Wish List

Can you believe its December!

'its the most magical time of the year'

I’m super excited about this time of the year, Christmas was never a big deal growing up and I promised myself when I had children I would make it as special as I could. Last year we celebrated Emma’s firs Christmas, she was 10 months old and to be honest was more interested about the wrapping paper than the countless gifts me and my husband unwrapped for her. This year she’ll be 20 months and she’s started talking so I really can’t wait. I’ve been getting her presents since January so yes, I’m very prepared. I think Minnie Mouse will run this household after the 25th December. My child is so obsessed with Minnie mouse. I’ve lost count of how many Minnie teddies we have.
I’m a big believer that Christmas is about her, we spoil her rotten! I don’t believe you can over spoil a child. After all if I don’t or my husband who will? Last year we hardly got any photos which I regret till this day, but I want to make sure I capture every moment this year.
Anyways, my wish list…
As you can see it’s probably a very expensive list I have no shame!
I want to improve on my blog photos at the moment I just use my iPhone 6. Though it works well I want more, I used a 700D a few weeks back and simply loved it. I’ll be happy if that’s the only gift I get.
1.      Canon 700D, Buy here for £459.00
2.      River Island Coat, I love river island coats, most my coats are from there. This one is £90.00 buy here.
3.      Charlotte Tilbury Matte, £23.00 each. The other day when looking for a new lipstick someone recommend this one. Buy here
4.      Michael Kors Watch, you can get this from watch shop here. £136.00 anyone that knows me knows I LOVE watches.
5.      Ted Baker iPhone Case, you can buy these directly from Ted Baker the price range is around £30.00.
6.      Canon Lens, this lens retails at £95-105.00 cheapest place I’ve spotted it was curry’s.
7.      Gucci Envy Me, this was the first perfume my husband ever bought me. I’ve gone through a couple of bottles. Its £55.00 but usually on offer you can order it here.
8.      Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Sweets, retails at £35. Buy directly from ABH.
9.      Zoeva eye brush set, again I blame this one on a friend she recommended them. My last brushes I got 3 years ago I’m in need of them. £65.00 from beauty bay, you can order them here.
10.   Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon Child, I’m hoping to place an order before the end of the year to buy the two palettes. They cost roughly £32.00 you can buy it from ABH website.
11.   Specturm Brushes, I’m hoping my parents get me this. The sell for £65.00 you can get them online here.
12.   Michael Kors Selma, I’ve wanted this bag as long as I can remember BUT it’s £310.00 I really need to start saving! Buy here.

What’s on your list? I’d love to know...

Mustela Review

Mummy post alert!

A month or so I was approached by Mustela to review some baby products. I’ve been using their products on Emma since she was 3 weeks old. We tried everything and her skin was so sensitive and kept having reactions. I was recommended this by my sister in law she used it with my nephew when he was born. I searched high and low as they are hard to find in the UK. I found a local chemist that stock them and I haven’t looked back. When they spoke to me a collaboration I was super excited as I’ve always bought the same products.

Let me start by saying I was so shocked at how much they actually sent me! Most products were full size.

1.      Baby perfume, £12.50

I was so excited to try this!
I remember picking it up from post office and spraying it all over her straight away. (yup, I’m that kinda girl that opens packages in the car, I can never wait till I’m home!). It’s just the most perfect baby scent you’ll ever smell. If you have ever used any of their products they smell heavenly. The smell is so light and not tough on their little button noses. I got many compliments on how good she smelt. I will be buying this over and over it’s a sweet reminder of those new born days.

2.      Baby Oil, £7.95

I’m not a big fan of baby oil, I just hate the way it feels greasy on the skin and takes forever to dry. This one is slightly quicker on the drying side. It’s done wonders to her thighs Emma has very dry patches on her legs I think it has a lot to do with her clothes rubbing and sweat as I notice it more after a nap. It has helped calm it down when it’s very bad. Overall I don’t think I will be buying this myself as I personally don’t like oils. I think this product would be perfect for baby massage the smell is lovely too.

3.      Baby wipes, £7.49

I LOVED these wipes.
I’m so fussy when it comes down to wipes for her, as a baby I used water wipes and then moved to pampers and basically used that since. These just felt nice and the correct wetness if that makes sense? If you’re a mum you know what I mean. I have gone out and bought these, but the price tag just isn’t purse friendly, I go through far too many wipes a week.

4.      Crème Change 1 2 3, £7.00

This was the only product I got in travel size, I have used this since she was little so it’s a good size to through in my handbag when we are out. I love this stuff and use it with every nappy change. We’ve been very lucky she’s never had a bad nappy rash, the ones she has had clears up within a few hours. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

5.      Skin Refresher, £5.95

I really wanted to love this, I thought it would be perfect for after lunch or dinner when I want to make her smell nice. BUT this is so strong I know I kept going on about how amazing their scent is but I think this is a tad bit to strong. I also noticed her skin went very dry after a few uses. I have however started using it diluted with water to refresh her bed hair in the mornings.

Anyone that knows me knows I will recommend Mustela products to anyone, even if I run out of her bits and buy some to get by I find I will be running to the chemist within a couple of days. Nothing comes close. It’s pricey compared to a few brands out there, but you get what you pay for. A little goes a long way!
