Mustela Review

Mummy post alert!

A month or so I was approached by Mustela to review some baby products. I’ve been using their products on Emma since she was 3 weeks old. We tried everything and her skin was so sensitive and kept having reactions. I was recommended this by my sister in law she used it with my nephew when he was born. I searched high and low as they are hard to find in the UK. I found a local chemist that stock them and I haven’t looked back. When they spoke to me a collaboration I was super excited as I’ve always bought the same products.

Let me start by saying I was so shocked at how much they actually sent me! Most products were full size.

1.      Baby perfume, £12.50

I was so excited to try this!
I remember picking it up from post office and spraying it all over her straight away. (yup, I’m that kinda girl that opens packages in the car, I can never wait till I’m home!). It’s just the most perfect baby scent you’ll ever smell. If you have ever used any of their products they smell heavenly. The smell is so light and not tough on their little button noses. I got many compliments on how good she smelt. I will be buying this over and over it’s a sweet reminder of those new born days.

2.      Baby Oil, £7.95

I’m not a big fan of baby oil, I just hate the way it feels greasy on the skin and takes forever to dry. This one is slightly quicker on the drying side. It’s done wonders to her thighs Emma has very dry patches on her legs I think it has a lot to do with her clothes rubbing and sweat as I notice it more after a nap. It has helped calm it down when it’s very bad. Overall I don’t think I will be buying this myself as I personally don’t like oils. I think this product would be perfect for baby massage the smell is lovely too.

3.      Baby wipes, £7.49

I LOVED these wipes.
I’m so fussy when it comes down to wipes for her, as a baby I used water wipes and then moved to pampers and basically used that since. These just felt nice and the correct wetness if that makes sense? If you’re a mum you know what I mean. I have gone out and bought these, but the price tag just isn’t purse friendly, I go through far too many wipes a week.

4.      Crème Change 1 2 3, £7.00

This was the only product I got in travel size, I have used this since she was little so it’s a good size to through in my handbag when we are out. I love this stuff and use it with every nappy change. We’ve been very lucky she’s never had a bad nappy rash, the ones she has had clears up within a few hours. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

5.      Skin Refresher, £5.95

I really wanted to love this, I thought it would be perfect for after lunch or dinner when I want to make her smell nice. BUT this is so strong I know I kept going on about how amazing their scent is but I think this is a tad bit to strong. I also noticed her skin went very dry after a few uses. I have however started using it diluted with water to refresh her bed hair in the mornings.

Anyone that knows me knows I will recommend Mustela products to anyone, even if I run out of her bits and buy some to get by I find I will be running to the chemist within a couple of days. Nothing comes close. It’s pricey compared to a few brands out there, but you get what you pay for. A little goes a long way!

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

A few months back I came across this foundation online, I’m in a makeup group and kept reading such amazing things I just HAD to try it. My favourite foundation has been the Estee Lauder Double wear for a few years and no matter what I tried nothing would come close.  I reviewed it here when I first started blogging. (I’m so sorry about the internet images! Back then I wasn’t big on my photos.) I must do an updated version! This foundation pretty much sounded like the Double Wear so I placed an order online. The shade I went for was the 2.5 after looking online for days, we don’t have an urban decay counter near (sad face) but our town centre is being redone and I’ve heard rumours of a Debenhams this has got me pretty excited as you can imagine. We are also getting a mac store this winter. This is going to cause some serious damage to my purse.

This is what urban decay have to say:
All Nighter Liquid Foundation by Urban Decay provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Get all-night wear and a blown-out effect you never thought was possible for a flawless-looking complexion that looks amazing and stays that way. Perfect for all-night affairs and other scandalous activities, this revolutionary formula is also comfortable enough to wear every day. While Naked Skin complexion products are demi-matte, All Nighter Liquid Foundation is completely matte-but never flat (and it s oil-free!). Urban Decay loaded this formula with an insane amount of pigment (about three times as much as Naked Skin Liquid Makeup), so a little goes a long way. There's no need to build coverage or apply multiple layers. This waterproof, paraben-free formula diffuses light to blur flaws for beautifully perfected skin as it mattifies and absorbs oil to reduce the appearance of shine.
·        30ml
·        Oil free
·        With a wide range of meticulously calibrated shades that match UD's existing Naked Skin Liquid Makeup shades it's easy to find your perfect match.

Shade 2.5

The coverage to this foundation is amazing, it’s full coverage but without the cakey feeling I would sometimes get with the Estee Lauder one. Some days it would go on fine others I would hate it! But this one has been perfect every time I’ve gone to apply it. The finish to this foundation is matte but without giving you that flat look. It contains light reflecting pigments which your skin come to life. I’ve got oily skin, if you have dry skin I would recommend using a good primer beforehand. I find the best brush to apply this with is my real techniques sculpting brush 2/3 pumps is all I need to cover my whole face. This has quickly become my go to foundation.

One negative factor to this Holy Grail foundation is that it oxidises slightly!

When buying it I would keep this in mind, as I’ve seen some people with same skin tone as mine being colour matched to a shade darker and then once it settles on their skin it’s far too dark.

“All Nigther”
I would say it wears pretty well, most foundations just slide off my face. I’ve always had trouble finding something that lasts more than an hour or two without needing touch ups. I wear this with the NYX shine killer primer I must admit I’ve been loving it with this foundation, I tried it with my Double Wear and hated it! I wear this with my colorstay powder and finish off with a setting spray and get about 7/8 hours wear. For me that’s amazing and I’m happy with that.

Welcome to the family.
My new Holy Grail foundation.

You can buy this from Debenhams or at any urban decay counter.

Confessions Of A Beauty Blogger

Here's a fun post, thought it'd be nice as a get to know me.

1.      I hardly use body lotion (I own A LOT of it) I just find it a hassle and I hate having to wait for it to dry.
2.      I only wash my brushes once a month, I hate washing them. Instead I just own a ridiculous amount.
3.      I’m terrible when it comes to use by date or you know makeup says 12, 24 and 36 months. Yeah I just ignore that.
4.      I hate chipped nails and when one breaks I have to cut them all!
5.      I always stay up to late, regret it every morning when I’m running out the house without brushing my hair.
6.      I once went to get my eyebrows dyed and came out with black eyebrows, I’m very blonde and fair, I looked so stupid.
7.      I hate washing my hair, it’s not washing it but the drying.
8.      I’ve NEVER done my own eyebrows.
9.      I always get acrylic nails and regret it, I have very long strong natural nails.
10.   I spend far TOO much money on hair technology which then sits in a box, no one needs 6 hair curlers! On that note have you seen the new dyson hair dryer? I blame my hairdresser!
11.   I started wearing makeup at age 12, I use to carry baby wipes with me and after school I’d wipe my face before I got home.
12.   I’m a very bad saver thanks to beauty products.
13.   I own over 15 eyeshadow palettes.
14.   I shop far too much and never have any clothes.
15.   I’m obsessed with watches I could get one every birthday and Christmas and I’d be over the moon!
16.   I hardly ever use concealer, I normally apply a bit more foundation.
17.   I’m terrible at using face creams again pure laziness (I need to change).
18.   My husband always complains I buy too many phone cases, I do.
19.   When my makeup doesn’t go right I have refused to leave the house. My husband doesn’t understand why your “eyelines have to match” (he means eyeliner)
20.   I always forget to use heat protector in my hair, then cry when it needs a cut.
What are your confessions?
I’d love to know.

Shadow Switch Review

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday.

I few weeks ago I was kindly sent shadow switch from beauty essentials, this little pot has completely changed my makeup routine. I didn’t know how much I needed it until it arrived!

I would like to start by saying thank you to the team at Dee and Co for the opportunity. They are amazing, when they contacted me about doing a collaboration they gave me so much information about the company and the item I would be receiving.

I think every girl needs this in there makeup bag, have you ever had to stop using your favourite brush because it was dirty or needed to change to a completely different colour? Yes me too! But I’m pretty confident in saying you can achieve a smoky eye using just one brush thanks to this!
It comes in a beautiful box, inside you’ll find a tin with a black sponge. The packaging is very lightweight so it’s perfect for travelling. Let’s face it, no one wants to carry hundreds of brushes when they are going away. Up till now I have been travelling with ALOT of brushes more than I probably need, but that’s a thing of the past I can just throw this in there and clean my brushes after using them! The sponge itself has no scent which is one of the first things I checked, I have very sensitive skin proven to breakouts I try to avoid anything that’s heavily scented.

After you use the brush you simply twirl your brush and like magic it comes out clean. I put it to the test using a black shade from my urban decay palette.

As you can see the brush itself doesn’t look 100% clean. But I can guarantee there is no colour pay off if you was to swatch it. When I first heard about this I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting much from it.

One thing I did notice, some brushes will lose bristles with this. I tested over 6 brushes and it only happened with two sigma brushes. I’m not sure why, if it’s the brush itself that’s becoming old I’ve used those things nonstop for the past 4 years. This still wouldn’t stop me from using shadow switch, if I was to wash my brushes after every use you bet it would cause a hell of a lot more damage.

You can purchase this item from amazon, it will also be coming to Sephora very soon so keep your eyes open. The best thing is it’s so affordable so anyone can pick one up, it retails at £5.99.
The packaging itself will be changing I was sent a picture of the new packaging and i LOVE it just as much. I would definitely recommend this to eyeshadow lovers.

*Disclaimer, I was sent this product in exchange for a review. This does not affect my review in any way its 100% my honest opinion.
